Customer records support invoice, report, document, and share workflows.
Invoices And Money-In
Invoice and A/R workflows for connected apps.
LedgerLine helps SaaS apps and custom software create customers, estimates, invoices, invoice posting workflows, customer payments, A/R summaries, and customer-facing document shares through an accounting API.
Estimates are operational sales documents and do not affect accounting by themselves.
Invoice posting creates A/R and revenue through balanced journal entries.
Customer payments reduce Accounts Receivable and debit cash or clearing.
Workflow
From customer to receivable to payment.
Connected apps can keep their own product experience while LedgerLine handles the accounting state behind server-side API calls.
- Step 1
Create or list customers from your server.
- Step 2
Create estimates or draft invoices without accounting impact.
- Step 3
Post the invoice when it should create A/R and revenue.
- Step 4
Record customer payments and read A/R summaries.

Accounting Truth
Posting is the accounting line.
- Customer creation has no accounting impact.
- Estimate creation, acceptance, or decline has no accounting impact.
- Estimate conversion creates a draft invoice; it does not post accounting by itself.
- Invoice creation has no accounting impact until posted.
- Invoice posting debits Accounts Receivable and credits Revenue.
- Payment recording debits Cash/Clearing and credits Accounts Receivable.
- Stripe Checkout/payment collection is deferred unless a later provider phase implements it.
- LedgerLine can record payments; external money movement is separate unless provider integration is added.
Developer Workflow
Server-side invoice API path.
- Use API keys only from server-side code.
- Call customer, estimate, invoice, invoice posting, payment, and A/R report endpoints.
- Use API Recipes and OpenAPI YAML for route-level details.
- Use the read-only API Reference for examples; it does not send live requests.
- Production still requires setup, migrations, private buckets, RLS/Storage dry-run, and QA.

Product Truth
Built foundation, honest boundaries.
- API Reference is read-only and never asks for real API keys.
- Core accounting does not require Stripe, SendGrid, Plaid, OCR/AI, IRS e-filing, or payroll providers.
- Provider integrations, active billing, IRS e-filing, and payroll/HR remain deferred unless implemented later.
- Setup/testing is available from the code side; production rollout requires review.
- LedgerLine does not claim SOC 2, PCI, certification, tax advice, legal advice, accounting advice, or affiliation with Stripe.
